When 17 year old, Jared Conner came to visit his mother, Jerrie Conner, over the Christmas break; he didn’t know his mother was planning to celebrate his 18th birthday, which is January 26, while he was visiting.
“Jared has been living with his father, in Atlanta, for the past five years, so when he comes to visit me I always want to do something special for him, especially if it’s his birthday,” Ms. Conner told The Toledo Journal.
So, on January 1, Ms. Conner gathered her other children and contacted family members so they could celebrate her son’s 18 birthday, at Bowlero Lanes Fun Center, 4398 Monroe.
Being that Jared has been playing football all his life, Ms. Conner had a special cake made that represented her son’s love for the game.
She added that Jared has been such a good student, and a standout football player in high school, she felt like that party was a way to reward him for his accomplishments.
He was student of the week, was nominated as the student with the best personality, is on the honor roll, and received several offers to continue playing football in college, so I felt I had to do something for him; I just really love him, Ms. Conner said.
During high school, Jared has been named middle linebacker, all-region, and two time defensive player of the week.
“Even though, I live in Atlanta with my dad, my mom tries to give me the world. For that, and everything she does, I’m really happy and thankful for her,” Jarred said.
Although not 18 until January 26, Jared blows out the candles on his birthday cake.
Jared enjoys a game of bowling.
Surrounded by family, Jared Conner, center, with his mom, Jerrie Conner, to his left, said he enjoyed the party, as well as, “Everything my mom does for me. She tries to give me the world.”
